Welcome to the website for First United Methodist Churches in Falfurrias, TX and Premont, TX. These two churches have a long history of providing a place of worship in, and serving, their communities. We WELCOME EVERYONE to come worship with us! Nothing thrills us more than to greet a visitor or a newcomer in the name of Jesus Christ. If you are looking for a place to worship, we hope you will consider visiting us!

Welcome to the Official Website of First United Methodist Churches of Premont and Falfurrias!

My name is Rev Lon Scott and I was appointed as pastor of First UMC in Falfurrias in January of 2018 and First UMC of Premont in July 2019. My wife, Deana, and I have both enjoyed getting to know the communities of Falfurrias and Premont, their people and especially you, my brothers and sisters in Christ.  I can tell you based on first hand experience with these are two loving congregations and that if you are searching for a place to worship that is warm, inviting and welcoming to all...then I hope that you will visit us at FUMC in Falfurrias or Premont. I think you will find our worship services to be relaxed, personable and spiritually rewarding!.

My wife Deana and I are excited to be a part of our two new church families and look forward to getting to know each of you better!

Blessings and Grace Always,

Pastor Lon

Pastor's Update - March 30, 2020

God’s Blessings and Grace to You and Your Families,

Everything is going OK for Deana and I here in New Braunfels. Everyone in our family continues to do everything we need to do to stay safe. I hope all is well with each you and that you are doing what you each need to do to be safe.

The virus continues to spread and the number of cases continues to grow but the future holds some hope with some treatments now emerging and some vaccines now under development. That’s good news. Don’t get me wrong, things are still "very bad" across the United States and the world, but there is "good" in all of this if one looks for it. I am getting to be like Pollyanna and I find myself playing the "Glad Game" a lot anymore. God is moving, despite this mess.

Deana and I drove down, this past weekend, to my churches in Bishop, Premont and Falfurrias to check on our congregations as best we could. We left communion out for anyone wanting to come up to the churches to pray in the coming days and receive it on an individual basis. Communion during these days of the "virus outbreak" consists of some sanitized and individually wrapped juice and wafer sets, that we have asked "God’s Blessings" upon. They are put on the alter rail for people to come in and receive, should they want to arrange to come in on their own for prayer. Hand sanitizer is also available at each church to use as health concerns warrant. I plan to go down again and leave more communion sets out on "Good Friday" for anyone wanting to come in and pray over the Easter weekend. This past weekend I only had 65 communion sets to leave but I have another 100 that I ordered through Amazon. That order should come in on Wednesday of this week. As I am sure everyone knows, all churches in Texas have been closed for "normal worship" services for the past 2 weeks. They will all (most likely) remain closed during the month of April as per the latest recommendations from the President’s Task Force which came out yesterday. However, our churches are still available for people wanting to come in on their own to pray, so long as the numbers at any one time remain small and we practice "social distancing" and "hand sanitizing".

I know this is a short letter but I wanted you to know that our three congregations are all fine at the moment. Please do everything that you need to do to stay safe and remember to show others kindness every chance you get. Everyone is stressed and worried right now. Please read your bible and keep everyone in your prayers each day.

God’s got this…remember to lean on Him when you are worried about your family and friends.

Keep the Faith,

Pastor Lon
